Movie Buy-Out

At the request of many of our students, we will be holding a games/movie buyout on Wednesday, April 10, from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Admission will be $2.00/person in support of the Grade 7/8 Vancouver Exchange Group, who will be running the event. There will be popcorn and other snacks for sale. Don’t have any extra cash for admission? Don’t worry - perform one hour of community service instead. Lessons around this event will include empathy, leadership, student self-advocacy and service.

Community Bowling Night

Friday, April 26

6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Sign up/book a lane on School-Day. There is limited room in each time slot, so please book early.

The Grade 2s and 3s are going swimming!

The 2s will be at the Y on Tuesdays - April 16, 23 and 30 and May 7, and the 3s will go on Wednesdays - 17, 24, and May 1 and 8. They will be walking over. Cost is approximately $10 (a special rate for this year) for the 4 sessions.

We’re on Facebook!

Check out St. Mary’s Catholic School in Collingwood.

(See School-Day, our website and Instagram, too.)

Chocolate Fundraiser

We are still missing several boxes of chocolates from our chocolate fundraiser. Please return them (or the cash) as soon as possible.

Please complete a Google Survey

The Board is moving towards a centralized communication system. To this end, there is a memo on School-Day asking parents to complete a Google Survey, listing student email addresses. (If your students do not know their Board email addresses, these can be obtained from the teacher.)

Field Trips

Classes are now planning field trips. Please keep in mind that being able to follow school rules (which are established for student safety) are even more important on field trips.

Please help - day starts at 8:45.

If your child is late, please remember that this disrupts the entire class, as well as your own child missing important lessons for the day. We do understand that lives are busy and things happen, but please be aware of the disruption that lateness causes.

The office is always very busy at the end of the day. Please help us to keep this time calm and positive for the children by:

  1. Writing changes to the pickup or busing routine in your child’s agenda, rather than calling between 2:45 and 3:00.

  2. Meeting your child at the designated Kiss and Drop at 3:05.

Science Fair for Grades 4-8

We will be holding a Science Fair for all interested students on Thursday, May 9. Applications and instructions are available on the school website (search "science fair"). Please submit applications directly to Ms. Eccleshall. All projects must be student-created.

The virtue of the month for April is Service.

The habit of the month (from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) is Sharpen the Saw (refresh yourself mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally in order to accomplish more).
